[Conseil œcuménique des Églises] A delegation from the World Council of Churches and ecumenical partners, including the Middle East Council of Churches, ACT Alliance and Caritas Internationalis, met online with His Beatitude Theophilus III, Patriarch of Jerusalem, and other Jerusalem church leaders on 7 August.
The delegation will travel virtually to the Holy Land on August 7-8, as recent developments in the region led to the postponement of an in-person visit originally scheduled for August 5-9.
Patriarch Theophilus said: “As servants of the word of the Lord, we do our best to pray for peace, for justice and reconciliation. What is happening is really very dangerous not only for our region and the Holy Land but for the whole world, and it is our moral obligation as spiritual leaders to promote and serve the values of the Gospel.
