The doctors of the KAT proceeded to amputate both legs of the student from the University of Patras who had contracted meningitis.
The 20-year-old, after being diagnosed with meningitis, was transferred from the University General Hospital of Patras to the CAT hospital, as she presented complications and specifically septic emboli. This resulted in gangrene forming on the bottom of both her legs, with doctors proceeding with amputation from the knee down.
The latest information indicates that her health has improved. The doctors on their side are optimistic and believe that they managed to limit the damage. It is recalled that the 20-year-old student collapsed on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 21 at her school.
Then, her fellow students in the Mathematics department called an ambulance, which took her to the University General Hospital of Patras where she was intubated, as her condition was aggravated. He was transferred to the pathology clinic of the Rio hospital until he developed problems with his legs, as a result of which it was deemed necessary to transfer him to the Emergency Department.
