The Greens Senators Regine Günther (57, Environment) and Ramona Pop (42, Economy) can imagine heat sources in front of bars to enable more outdoor seating in the autumn / winter season. In return, they demand a car-free Sunday in order to again save climate-damaging CO2.
The FDP parliamentary group reacted immediately and is ready for this compromise. Fractional leader Sebastian Czaja (37) on the BZ: “In order to help our gastronomy in this exceptional situation over the Corona winter and thus save jobs and neighborhood culture, the temporary suspension of the mushroom heater ban is an unavoidable measure. The proposal to offset the emissions in this exceptional situation with a one-time, voluntary car-free Sunday would be a necessary compromise. “

And further: “Social service providers such as nursing staff or delivery traffic are of course excluded from this. The gastronomy could thus be given the economic and political opportunity to organize a city festival, under the applicable hygiene regulations, that submits special gastronomic offers to the people in their neighborhood and thus increases demand. So this day can also become a symbol for lived economic solidarity, in favor of jobs and neighborhood culture. “
The patio heater is forbidden in the inner city districts
Heating mushrooms on public sidewalks in front of bars have been banned in six Berlin districts since 2009. Namely in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, Mitte, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Pankow, Tempelhof-Schöneberg, Treptow-Köpenick. There are no bans, for example, in Potsdam, Cottbus, Frankfurt / M., Bremen, Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Dortmund, Bonn.
In Dresden you have to apply for patio heaters and in Leipzig one is allowed per 20 square meters – the fee of 20 to 30 euros is used for planting trees. Due to the pandemic, green-governed cities are already allowing exceptions in autumn / winter 2020/21: In downtown Stuttgart, the ban is to be suspended until April. Exceptions are also planned in Tübingen.
