Paterson Relaunches Only New Jersey Financial Empowerment Center – NBC New York (47)

NEW JERSEY — On Tuesday, Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh joined OFE Director Iran Lisser and NJCDC Executive Director Bob Guarasci to announce the relaunch of the Paterson Financial Empowerment Center in the city’s own Day of the FEC of the city.

The event took place at 11 am Tuesday at the Mayor’s Office at Paterson City Hall at 155 Market Street.

City of Paterson staff and community members were invited to take advantage of the relaunch by meeting with on-site counselors and begin scheduling their free one-on-one counseling sessions.

The Paterson FEC, the only Financial Empowerment Center in New Jersey, provides professional, confidential, and free as a public service to residents.

The program has trained professional counselors to help low- and moderate-income individuals and families manage their finances by creating a spending and budget tracking system, paying off debt, increasing savings, establishing or credit improvement and access to safe and affordable conventional banking products.

The FEC model integrates counseling with other social services, such as housing and foreclosure prevention, workforce development, prisoner re-entry, access to benefits, safe and affordable banking, small business empowerment, domestic violence services and more.
