Paterson Braces for Winter Storm After Severe Floods

“If it’s not the floods, it’s the black ice, the snow, the water,” Mirtha Domínguez, who had to take the wheel of her car, told Univision 41 this Tuesday.

Paterson maintains a warming center, which curiously no one came to last week, during the flood emergency. However, with the coming cold, it is now full of people, especially homeless people.

City workers spread 25 truckloads of salt on the streets

Until dawn, a group of workers were spreading pounds and pounds of salt on the streets, a culinary ingredient used to reduce the risk of slips and accidents.

Paterson Councilwoman Maritza Dávila stated that some residents are without electricity or heat, but noted that for them there is help available in the center that is enabled.

Firefighters remain on the streets, attentive to any emergency, and several special trucks to remove snow, confirmed our reporter Alejandro Condis.

Paterson remains in state of emergency

“Tonight we will continue working and spreading salt on the streets,” said the mayor. An initiative that drivers appreciate.

About 3 inches of snow fell overnight and early in the morning.
