According to data from the online car market information system (SIOMAA), in the first 14 business days of the month, more vehicles were patented than in October 2023. The general data shows that demand for new cars still going strong, despite some changes to come. to release units by car companies.
The Chamber of Motor Vehicles estimates that October will close with a total of 40,906 patented units, including both cars and light commercial vehicles. If heavy vehicles are added, the final number could exceed 42,000, indicating a positive trend for the automotive sector.
This good performance in sales allows us to project that 2024 will close with more than 400,000 0km cars sold, which, although it is 10% less than in 2023, is better than expected. At the beginning of the year, a drop of almost 25% was estimated, but the development in the last months has reduced that difference significantly.
Best selling 0km cars in 2024
Regarding the best-selling brands in Argentina, Toyota continues to lead the market with a share of 27.1% in October, followed by Volkswagen (16.6%) and Fiat (11.4%). Peugeot, Ford and Renault are also among the most prominent brands.
Among the most patented models, the Toyota Hilux remains in first place with 9% of the market, followed by Toyota Yaris and Peugeot 208, which displaced the Corolla Cross to fourth place. The Volkswagen Amarok will complete the top five best selling vehicles in October.
