Patent gives references to menu of next-gen console

Sony has filed a patent for a possible PS5 UI.
Sony has filed a patent for a possible PS5 UI.

According to a patent that Sony filed on United States Patent and Trademark Office has submitted, the UI, or the user interface of the PS5 sees that of PS4 very similar. However, the icons of the games offer more information.

The PS5 monitors your progress and shows you with the icon how far you have progressed, how many kills you have achieved and even gives you tips if you have stopped at one point and have not played for a while.

The PS5 gets to know you: Machine learning is to be used. So the PS5 could learn to deal with you and your gaming behavior and then offer you tailored information. The system will also scan other players’ videos and compare them with your progress so that the PS5 can then give you the appropriate information.

For example, you will be presented with a tutorial that explains how to unlock a particular trophy.

Are you planning new TV concepts? The patent also lists cable TV and antenna TV. How exactly this is supposed to work is unclear. Will it be possible to connect an antenna to the PS5? Sony has not yet revealed anything about this.

Somehow TV seems to play a role in the UI.

Nothing is safe: However, it should be borne in mind that this is only a registered patent. It doesn’t mean that all of these features are actually included in the PS5. It could only be ideas that Sony plays with and later discards.

On June 11th at 10 p.m. we will see at least the first PS5 games and probably also the console itself during the PS5 Reveal event. It is not known whether the UI is also revealed (and rather unlikely).

Do you prefer a completely new menu or should Sony stay with the PS4-UI?
