The recently released Switch version of Gothic was supposed to receive a number of fixes to address bugs that have been present in the game on PC for over twenty years. THQ Nordic actually managed to get rid of many of the “old” problems, but some of them remained, and new ones were added to them.
In this regard, the release of a patch was announced – it was supposed to be released before the end of this week. THQ Nordic has kept its word and patch 1.02 is now available for download. The list of changes can be found on the Gothic Community Discord server by going to the “read-only” category and then to the “gothic-news” channel.
Fixes in patch 1.02 for Gothic Classic:
Fixed a bug due to which black goblins did not move; Fixed stairs; NPCs no longer float or walk on air; The script that caused Kor Kalom to cast a sleep spell on the Nameless One too quickly when he was trying to rob his chest now works correctly; The script that caused Snipes to attack the Nameless One when he opened Aaron’s chest now works as expected; When the Nameless One is defeated in battle, he loses his weapon – NPCs can pick it up, just like we can pick up their weapons after winning a battle; Fixed lifting of folded items; The quest “Khroman” can now be completed; Improved archery; User interface: improved scale and field of view of objects (rings in the inventory are now displayed correctly); Map preview now works as expected; Fixed a bug that led to incorrect rounding of the cost of a large number of items put up for sale; Fixed all other errors when trading with merchants; NPCs that use ranged weapons no longer freeze when loading a save; Fixed using the lute and horn outside of the inventory; Fixed a bug when sprinting; Bleeding is now displayed correctly; Fixed an exploit that allows you to multiply fire damage; The name of the selected spell is displayed correctly when you want to use it; Magic circles are displayed correctly when using the corresponding rune; The script that caused Lester’s incorrect dialogue in the mission in the mountain fortress now works correctly; Fixed a script error that caused problems in the dialogue with Diego during a joint search for the fire stone if we killed enemies prematurely; The quest related to Torus is no longer blocked.
Improvements:
The name of the spell appears at the top of the magic circle menu; Improved field of view when playing in widescreen resolution; Sneaking can now be disabled using the B button; Dialogue now scales correctly in both portable and tabletop modes of the Switch; Improvements have been made to localization; Improved rain display; The “legendary” camera setting has been implemented; Added a new view and focus (?) of the map; Items can now be dropped from the inventory level; Improved interface of dialog options; The exchange of items for ore nuggets is automated – just select items for sale and confirm the transaction to complete it, if the merchant has the number of nuggets corresponding to the cost of our goods (no need to manually scroll through the windows).
If you encounter bugs in Gothic on Switch, you can report them here pages. Let us remind you that bug fixes will also be implemented in the PC version of the game. However, it is currently unknown when this will happen.
Gothic Classic, the name given to the Nintendo console version of the role-playing game, was so popular among the public that the boxed edition produced by THQ Nordic was too small for players’ needs. In addition, the second part of the series will also undergo a similar rework. Gothic II: Complete Classic will be released on Switch on November 29th.
