Two high voltage towers located in the area where the Poderosa mining company operates in Pataz, La Libertad region, were dynamited by alleged illegal miners, according to what the company’s corporate affairs manager, Pablo de la Flor, told RPP.

According to the manager’s statement, the miners had colluded with criminals not only to carry out the attack with explosives, but to take over two galleries of the mining operations.

De la Flor indicated that the attacks have not caused any personal injury. However, he stated that to date, illegal miners have blown up 15 high voltage towers in Pataz.

The new attack occurs despite the fact that the Government of President Dina Boluarte maintains Pataz in a state of emergency. For this reason, the manager asked the government for law enforcement to intervene to restore tranquility in the area.
