Patatas Meléndez, the Valladolid company in the fresh potato sector, has signed an annual collaboration agreement with the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (Fesbal), to supply the tuber to the 54 associations throughout the country. An agreement that seeks to “mitigate”, as far as possible, the effects of marginalization and poverty.
Patatas Meléndez is committed to offering fresh potatoes to interested banks. The agreement is launched with a first donation of 100,000 kilos of potatoes between the entities of Álava, Ávila, Burgos, Granada, Huelva, León, Lugo, Murcia, Seville and Valencia. A product that has reached its destination in optimal quality conditions and preserving all its organoleptic qualities.
The agreement signed with Fesbal is part of Meléndez’s Corporate Social Responsibility area and its commitment to solidarity, which consolidates its action plan and donations. A plan that in 2020 has led them to donate more than 380,000 kilos of fresh potatoes to various entities, among which are food banks.
The CEO of Patatas Meléndez, Javier Meléndez, stressed that the company has always been “committed” and “committed” to society, which increased with the onset of the pandemic. For his part, the general director of Fesba, Miguel Fernández, thanked companies such as Patatas Meléndez, which carry out solidarity initiatives to collaborate with food banks.
