After the Microlino and Fiat Topolino, the Slovakian brand Patak is also following the path of retro designs. The start-up releases the ‘Rodster’, a compact car that looks straight out of the 1930s. The car will mainly rely on its attractive appearance, because it is not exactly a sprint cannon.
The Slovakian car was specially developed for city driving. Patak Motors wants to make ‘micromobility’ popular again by making the car look like a classic sports car from the 1930s. In terms of design, the 3.36 meter long car looks a bit like a Morgan or Donkervoort.

From 0 to 50 km/h in 9 seconds
According to Patak, the Rodster has to compete not only with cars, but also with motorcycles. They are a bit faster, because the single-cylinder accelerates from zero to… fifty kilometers per hour within nine seconds. The top speed is 125 kilometers per hour, but you may have to use a calendar to measure how long it takes to reach that speed. The engine of the 450 kilo Rodster is linked to a continuously variable transmission.

250 kilometers of range
Then the electric version of this vehicle sounds (slightly) more interesting. It has 20 hp and reaches the magical limit of 50 kilometers per hour in ‘only’ seven seconds. The top speed is 130 kilometers per hour and the range would be a maximum of 250 kilometers if you opt for the version with a 20 kWh battery.
The car has disc brakes all around and the options list even includes parking sensors. The Rodster comes standard with a fabric roof to protect against rain. Patak asks 16,900 euros for the version with a combustion engine. An electric copy costs at least 22,900 euros. That is about the same price as a Dacia, which is listed in the price lists from 21,750 euros. The Rodster can be reserved after a deposit of 500 euros. The first versions would be delivered at the end of 2024.
