Pastor Erwin Meier celebrates the Golden Jubilee

The 50th anniversary of his ordination is on Sunday, June 28, Pastor i. R. Erwin Meier (Wrzburg). Meier (78) was born in Oberschleichach in 1942, according to a press release from the Episcopal Ordinariate of Wrzburg. Bishop Josef Stangl ordained him a priest on June 28, 1970 in Wrzburg. Afterwards, Meier was employed to help out in Holzkirchen and Sandberg-Schmalwasser. His Kaplans years led him to Krombach, Sommerau and Oberleichtersbach, before he became the Kuratus of Zimmer in 1973.

In 1978, Meier became pastor of Obervolkach. He was elected deputy dean of Kitzingen in 1980, from 1985 to 1995 he was dean there. In 1987 he also became pastor of Gaibach and Rimbach. 1995 Meier took over the parishes Waigolshausen and Hergolshausen with curator Theilheim.

In 2002 he became a chaplain in the Sankt Alfons monastery in Eichelsdorf. In 2003 he became temporary parish administrator of Hofheim, Gomannsdorf and Kerbfeld, 2004 parish administrator of Bundorf and Neuses. In 2008 Meier was released as a clergyman in the Sankt Alfons monastery and moved to Wrzburg, where he worked as a clergyman in the Sankt Maria house. Meier has been retired since 2012 and spends in Wrzburg.
