The district court in Bremen intends to announce its verdict today in an appeals process against the evangelical pastor Olaf Latzel, who was convicted of incitement to hatred. The 54-year-old was fined a total of 8,100 euros by the Bremen District Court a year and a half ago for derogatory statements about homosexuality and gender theories.

The defense demands acquittal and refers to the constitutionally protected freedom of religion.

In a seminar in front of 30 married couples, Latzel spoke of “gender dirt” and “criminals” from Christopher Street Day, among other things. An audio file of the seminar was later posted on YouTube for a short time, according to Latzel rather accidentally.
