As of today, Inese Astaševska, the current head of the Kuldīga Region Children and Youth Center, has been appointed the acting director of Viļa Plūdonis Kuldīga Secondary School, informed Kārlis Komarovskis, a public relations specialist of Kuldīga Municipality.
He pointed out that the current principal of the school, Mārtiņš Burke-Burkevics, who had been acting principal since 1 November last year, had asked to terminate the employment relationship with the municipality on his own initiative.
Astaševska Plūdonis will lead the staff of Kuldīga Secondary School until the new director is selected and approved through a competition. At the same time, Astaševska will retain the position of the head of the Kuldīga Region Children and Youth Center.
Komarovskis said that on Monday, a collective meeting of the school took place, where the management of Kuldīga County Council and acting director Astaševska met with teachers and technical staff.
Astashevska is a goldsmith. After graduating from Plūdonis Kuldīga Gymnasium, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in sports at the Latvian Academy of Sports Pedagogy, a qualification of a dance and rhythm teacher at the Riga Academy of Pedagogy and Education Management, and a master’s degree in sports at the Latvian Academy of Sports Pedagogy.
Astaševska has been managing the Kuldīga Regional Children and Youth Center since 2016, before that she worked as a teacher at Plūdonis Kuldīga Gymnasium and Kuldīga Secondary School of Arts and Humanities.
It is expected that at the meeting of Kuldīga County Council on September 24, the competition regulations will be approved in order to select the new school principal, Komarovskis indicated.
