Zhejiang Online News on September 17 (Reporter Bao Yong) At 10 a.m. on September 17, the torch relay of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, Jinhua, Piaoping Road, is in progress. Cao Rongan, the 85-year-old director of the Lei Feng Memorial Hall, slowly ran forward with a torch, covering a short distance of 42 meters. Every step he took was very serious.
Cao Rongan can be said to be a household name in Jinhua. For more than 40 years, he has insisted on “learning from Lei Feng and doing environmental protection”, and has personally donated more than 1 million yuan to charity. He has been successively named “China’s Good Person” and “The Most Beautiful Volunteer in the Country”, and is affectionately called “Grandpa Lei Feng”.

As the oldest torchbearer of the Asian Games torch relay in the province, it was previously suggested that Cao Rongan could sit in a wheelchair and be pushed by volunteers to cover the 42 meters, but Cao Rongan refused.
“The Asian Games is a sports event. I want to tell young people through actions that only by active exercise can you have a strong body and win glory for the country in the future.” Cao Rongan said with a smile that he could finish the race like everyone else, but he was a little slower.
In fact, Cao Rongan has an Asian Games complex. 33 years ago, with a monthly salary of less than 100 yuan and no TV at home, he donated 1,000 yuan to the Beijing Asian Games, equivalent to a year’s income.
“This is a donation receipt from the Beijing Asian Games, as well as a certificate of honor.” Cao Rongan took out a batch of old objects and recalled that it was the first time China held an international sports event. Let the world see that the Chinese can do it.
Cao Rongan also has feelings for his family and country. In 2010, Cao Rongan used his pension to establish the Lei Feng Deeds Exhibition Hall, which collected more than 15,000 red materials promoting Lei Feng’s spirit and carried out long-term publicity among primary and secondary school students in major universities.
“If young people are strong, the country will be strong. Young people are the future of the country and the ones who will take over the baton.” Cao Rongan said that he wanted to inspire young people’s patriotism, ambition to strengthen the country and the desire to serve the country through Lei Feng’s deeds.
