Passersby discover howling dogs in overheated cars – and call the police
–
On Friday afternoon, passersby discovered a howling dog that had been left behind in a car in a market square in Gerolzhofen, Lower Franconia. According to a report by the “Mainpost”, the car had been in the blazing heat for over two hours. A window was slightly open, but the 27 degrees outside temperature is said to have caused considerable heat build-up in the car, which obviously had problems for the four-legged friend. The passers-by tried to shield the dog from the midday heat with blankets and called the police.

The owner finally appeared shortly before the car was to be broken open. When the police told the man that they would file a criminal complaint against him under the Animal Welfare Act, the 74-year-old reacted with absolute lack of understanding and announced that he would continue to leave his dog in the car while shopping.
