Accident death in Tol Dupak KM 4,100 was triggered by a passenger of a pilgrim bus grabbing the driver’s wheel. The passenger identified as Burniat (51) is suspected of having depression.
“According to the witness (the perpetrator) suddenly became depressed,” said Head of the Tanjung Perak Harbor Police Traffic Unit AKP Eko Adi Wibowo as quoted detikJatimSaturday (5/3/2022).
Previously, a truck and bus accident killed a group of pilgrims on the Dupak Toll Road towards Waru KM 4,100 at 11.30 WIB.
The accident killed 3 people and injured the victim. Most of the victims suffered head injuries.
Head of PJR Dwi Sumrahadi Rakhmanto said that one passenger of the pilgrim bus grabbed the steering wheel of the bus from the driver, causing the bus to swerve and lose control.
“So this bus hit the toll road barrier when the driver’s steering wheel was seized by the passenger. At that time the bus swerved to the right and finally hit a truck loaded with plastic pellets that was passing from the opposite direction,” he added.
