At 2:00 in the morning the train finally leaves. At Komunari station shortly before Burgas, however, it stops again for another 130 minutes due to damage in the section between Daskotna and Turnak stations. So, in the end, the fast train arrives nearly nine hours late.

The fast night train from Varna to Sofia runs four hours late

“9 hours late. The organization of the BDZ is disgusting. We didn’t feel the hot weather, but the tension was huge,” said Angela Mancheva from Vratsa.

“Long stays at stations where there was nothing to buy for the children, for us. Heat, heat,” added Ivelina Dimova from Pavlikeni.

The driver of the Sofia – Burgas train commented to BNT that as an employee he traveled normally and claims that they have never had such a long delay before.

BDZ apologizes to the passengers of the train and promises to compensate them with tickets to travel on a route chosen by them arbitrarily. And those who canceled the trip will be refunded the amount of the purchased tickets.

Experiment: Petar Vitanov rides the train – heat, dirty carriages, lack of running water

Elderly people and families with small children were left without transportation to Ruse late last night because the train from Sofia to Varna was running 72 minutes late. Their connection in Gorna Oryahovitsa failed, despite the conductor’s assurance that the other train would be waiting for them. BDZ explained that the maximum waiting time for a delayed train is 20 minutes. Thus, the passengers remained in the waiting room without air conditioning for the next train in two hours, but it was also running 40 minutes late.

Due to the heat, the trains run at a limited speed and are delayed for at least an hour, BDZ confirmed.
