Passenger triggers emergency door and slides off as the plane prepares for takeoff.

Jakarta

The behavior of this Delta Air Lines passenger was beyond reason. When the plane was preparing to take off, he instead opened the door and exited by gliding.

This dangerous act occurred at Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday (25/3/2023) at around 10.40 local time. At that time, Delta Airlines flight number 1714 was about to leave Los Angeles for Seattle.

The process starting from boarding passengers went well. It’s just that the incident occurred just before the plane was about to fly.

According to information from the Federal Aviation Administration, the Boeing 737 was currently on the runway waiting to take off. But suddenly a passenger left the plane by opening the emergency exit.

This passenger was then detained by Delta Air Lines staff. Then law enforcement officers came and arrested him.

“Passengers were reaccommodated on a new aircraft and we apologize for the inconvenience and delay to their journey,” the FAA said as quoted by CNN, Monday (27/3/2023).

The case of passengers opening the plane door has actually happened several times. One of them was when a United Airlines passenger opened the emergency door and walked on the wing of the plane.

This incident occurred on May 5, 2022 at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, United States. At that time, United Airlines had just arrived from San Diego. As a result of his reckless action, the passenger was immediately secured by United Airlines ground staff.

Still in the same year, an American Airlines passenger also opened the plane’s emergency door when the plane was about to take off. He also activated the fire escape then slid out.

As a result, the flight bound for Chicago had to return to the departure terminal. Meanwhile, the trouble-making passenger was detained by the police.
