A 20-year-old Glendale woman was sentenced to four months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised probation after pleading guilty to attacking a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officer at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport with a bottle of apple juice.
The young woman admitted that she hit a federal agent on the head five times with a bottle of apple juice in the early morning of April 23, 2024. The TSA agent was then taken to the hospital with a concussion. The 20-year-old was also ordered by a district court judge in Arizona not to travel by plane during her three-year probation.
In court, it was said that the TSA inspector took a large bottle of apple juice out of the 20-year-old’s hand luggage and wanted to confiscate it. There was a brief tug-of-war with the passenger’s bag, then the TSA officer grabbed the bag and placed it behind a long metal table. Surveillance cameras captured the entire incident on camera, including when the passenger tried to get her bag out from behind the metal table. The security employee tried to prevent this by grabbing the 20-year-old by her hair, pushing her head onto the metal table and hitting her on the head several times with the apple juice bottle.
Other security guards rushed to rescue their colleague from the violent passenger and a struggle ensued at the security gate until airport police intervened and arrested the attacker. During the incident, the TSA was forced to close one of its main checkpoints at Phoenix Sky Harbor, causing delays for many passengers.
During questioning, the perpetrator said she had accidentally left a bottle of apple juice in her carry-on bag. Since the bottle did not comply with the TSA’s 3-1-1 rule, the bag had to be searched by hand, which then caused the owner to explode in anger. Quelle: District Court of Arizona / DMM
