On Saturday night, the police were notified of a passenger ferry from Fjord 1 that had grounded in Fitjar after an evasive maneuver from a leisure boat.
– The ferry was on its way out of Sandvikvågen and met on a darkened leisure boat. Thus, the captain had to make this evasive maneuver and ended up on a mountain. There were nine people on board and no injuries, says operations manager in the South-West police district, Helene Strand.
The police have opened a case and are starting an investigation.
– Divers have been ordered to look at the damage tomorrow. It is probably not major damage, but it is difficult to say now that it is dark.
The ferry is safely at the quay in Sandvikvågen, and it has not been possible to find the leisure boat.
The incident happened around 20:00.
