Passenger cars sold a fifth less than last year, almost no one wants a purple one

A total of 148,319 new passenger cars were registered in the first nine months of this year. In the same period last year it was 191,110 cars.

The most popular colors are gray and white. 26 percent of buyers chose both. This is followed by blue with 16 percent, red with ten, brown with four, green with less than two and yellow-green with about one percent.

Forty customers bought a purple passenger car, which corresponds to 0.03 percent of new registrations.

Škoda Auto cars with 56,647 registrations were sold the most. They thus accounted for 38.19 percent of the Czech market. It is followed by Hyundai, which sold 11,939 new passenger cars. This represents 8.05 percent of the market. The third best-selling are the new Volkswagen cars, which with 10,849 cover 7.31 percent of the market.

Octavia car of first choice

As for specific models, the most popular was still the Škoda Octavia with 15,041 units sold. This is more than a tenth of all new passenger cars sold. This was followed by the Škoda Fabia with 12,280 new registrations, representing 8.28 percent of the market.

The best-selling car from other brands than Škoda is the Hyundai i30. 5164 units were sold (3.48 percent of the market). This is the fifth best-selling model in the Czech Republic.

5,019 new trucks were sold. In the same period last year, there were 7,707 trucks.
