The PaSoK takes the initiative to suspend funding to the Spartans by filing an amendment that is part of the Ministry of the Interior’s bill for the ASEP.
The amendment signed by the parliamentary group refers to the decision of the Supreme Court which blocked the descent of the Spartans in the European elections, as it accepted that the condemned Ilias Kasidiaris is the real leader of the Spartans.
In their letter, the PASOK MPs state that they request the amendment of paragraph 1 of article 6 of the criminal code 15/2022 as “this regulation needs to be supplemented according to its ratio, so that its application covers expressis verbis all cases of direct or indirect channeling of state financial support to political parties to support criminal activities regardless of the shell party in which they took place the criminal acts in question”.
They therefore request the following amendment to state how “in case of conviction to any degree or prosecution and imposition of temporary detention under article 282 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, against the leader of a party or the chairman of a parliamentary group or the one who exercises the actual management of a party or against more than one fifth (1/5 ) of the deputies or one-fifth of the MEPs or one-fifth (1/5) of the members of the central governing body of a party or coalition of parties, in accordance with their statutes, for the crimes of articles 187 and 187A of the Criminal Code, any kind is suspended state funding and financial support after a decision of the Parliament by roll call vote and the absolute majority of the entire number of deputies”.
