The issue of state funding of the “Spartans” and the responsibilities of the Mitsotakis government for not suspending it brings PASOK into the news, which, after the internal party elections, is intensifying its opposition pressure on Maximou.
According to PASOK, the government is responsible, legally and politically, because it has not taken initiatives to suspend the granting of state funding to the “Spartans”, even though, according to a decision of the Justice, as noted by Harilaou Trikoupi, this party replaced essentially the Golden Dawn.
It is characteristic that PASOK State Member of Parliament Panagiotis Doudonis filed a question in parliament, accusing the government of continuing to distribute the state grant to the parties, including the “Spartans”. In fact, he loudly addresses the question: “why was an amount of 788,067.18 euros given to the “Spartians” on September 18, 2024?”
With detailed reasoning, political and legal arguments, Panagiotis Doudonis, resigns from the government because the granting of the state grant has not been suspended and asks if there is a plan to do so. He notes that the government should have done or at least should have done what is provided for by the legislation so that by a decision of the Parliament any kind of state funding and financial support to the “SPARTAINS” is suspended, taking into account mainly the fact that “the party this has been judged by the Supreme Court to replace the action of the GOLDEN DAWN and that it has as its real leader the convicted Ilias Kasidiaris (…), with the consequence that the SPARTIATES must be considered as the successor of the action of the GOLDEN DAWN”.
In more detail, PASOK calls on the government to take into account the fact that it has been judged by decision No. 1/2024 of the A1 Political Department of the Supreme Court that “the convicted Ilias Kasidiaris is the real leader of the party “SPARTIATES” , which replaces the “GOLDEN DAWN” and who never disapproved or disavowed, even in the slightest, the previous – as a leader of the GOLDEN DAWN – hate speech, his violent and racist action, in the context of his criminal mechanism as upper party, copying the institutional mechanisms of the Greek state, the intended policy of destroying the democratic institutions of the rule of law and the disapproval of the rights and freedoms recognized by democracy”.
The Member of State and responsible for K.T.E. PASOK-KINAL institutions Panagiotis Doudonis tabled the question in the parliament regarding the State Funding of the “Spartians”, on Wednesday October 16, addressing the Minister of the Interior Theodoros Livanios.
