Despite the fact that the candidates for the leadership of PaSoK are ready to slow down, if only for a few days, there is no lack of skirmishes since the pre-election period. This time in the foreground were the organizational issues in which a Diamantopoulos-Doukas front was formed, which demand the assurance of the mass and unhindered attendance of citizens in the process of the 6her October.
The two candidates, with their letters to the Ethics, Statute Implementation and Certification Committee (EDEKAP), leave tips for the preparation of the elections. The two candidates, as well as other PaSoK officials, estimate that the participation in the electoral process will be large, possibly exceeding the 270,000 voters who participated in 2021. Diamantopoulou and Doukas ask for an assurance that the organizational system can withstand the increased attendance.
In this context, in the letter sent to Harilaou Trikoupis, Haris Doukas requests the supply of new tablets, at least 1,400. It is also requested to ensure the number of users who will manage them and to do all the necessary tests to deal with possible contingencies.
“Immediate order of at least 1,400 tablets (the month of August will not be a sufficient excuse, not ordering the absolutely necessary tablets in time constitutes a deterrent for the smooth voting” says Anna Diamantopoulou. The candidate for the president of PASOK is also talking about the belated delivery of an incomplete register of members (which resembles a telephone directory), contrary to what was done in the previous election process”.
What does Androulakis answer?
From Harilaou Trikoupi they speak of “rushing for the sake of impressions” while it is noted that the competent committee has not officially met yet on the issue of geographical distribution, the number of polls and the staffing of the efferents and operators. Therefore, first there will have to be a decision on the number of culpas to be set up.
Harilaou Trikoupi, as reported by “Nea” broadcasts that in 2021 there were 841 polling stations, with an attendance of 270,000 voters. Then 39 more polling stations – and tablets as a result – were operated than in the 2017 election, which did not affect the 60,000 increase in turnout.
In the indirect hints that the president of PASOK does not want a large turnout, Androulaki’s entourage said that he has already toured “six prefectures and apparently believes that it should be ensured that the people who go to vote are not inconvenienced”.
