The leadership of Harilaou Trikoupis will seek the institutional exclusion of the “Spartiates” party from the European elections, even with an objection to the Supreme Court, if they manage to submit a candidacy for participation in the June Euro election.
Already, the president of PASOK-KINAL Nikos Androulakis and the scientific-legal staff of his party have processed the new data and are planning legal moves, following the prosecutor’s order for criminal prosecution for voter fraud against 11 deputies of the “Spartiates” party.
At the same time, a decision of the Supreme Special Court (Electoral Court) is pending after appeals for the covert relationship of the “Spartians” with Golden Dawn and therefore illegal participation in the Parliament of the “Spartians” party.
However, it is noteworthy that Harilaou Trikoupi has decided, even if the decision of the Electoral Court has not been issued on whether or not the “Spartans” can participate in the European elections, to proceed with an intervention in the competent A1 Department of the Supreme Court if they file a statement candidacy.
It is no coincidence that the press representative of PASOK-KINAL Thanasis Glavinas states publicly (Action24) that with the focus of prosecution for fraud of the electorate against MPs of the “Spartan” party, “it is very likely that we will file an objection when the process reaches the competent Department of the Supreme Court, which examines the parties’ applications” for the European elections.
However, the developments will be rapid, if the Electoral Court decides that the “Spartans” participated illegally in the parliamentary elections of 2023.
At the same time, the court will also decide how to fill their seats in the Greek parliament after the disqualification from parliamentary office. It remains to be seen whether the court decisions will be issued before or after the European elections.
