Pascal Siakam hit a 3-pointer with 7.3 seconds left in overtime to help the Indiana Pacers defeat the visiting Boston Celtics 135-132 on Wednesday night.
Jaylen Brown missed a 3-pointer that would have tied the game on Boston’s final possession.
Siakam scored 29 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out five assists. Teammate Bennedict Mathurin came off the bench to score 30 points (the most on the team) and grab 11 rebounds. Indiana ended a three-game losing streak.
Boston trailed by 24 points with 3:35 left in the third quarter and trailed by 21 points with 8:55 left, but tied the game on Jayson Tatum’s 3-pointer with 14.4 seconds left in the game.
Tatum scored a game-high 37 points but made 5 of 18 3-pointers. The Celtics received 25 points from Jaylen Brown and 23 from Derrick White. Brown was 1 of 11 from long range.
The Celtics made 40.4 percent of their field goals, including 33.3 percent (19 of 57) on three-pointers. It was Boston’s first loss in five games this season.
Tyrese Haliburton had 17 points and 12 assists for Indiana, which outscored Boston 11-8 in overtime.
The Celtics trailed by eight points at the end of the first quarter, but White hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to cut Indiana’s lead to 35-31.
Indiana’s first-half lead reached 13 points and the Pacers led 67-57 at halftime. Boston shot 37.3 percent from the field (19 of 51) in the first half, while Siakam scored 17 points.
Boston trailed 100-86 entering the fourth quarter.
The Pacers played without center Myles Turner (sprained left ankle). Turner averaged 15 points and 6.3 rebounds in Indiana’s first four games this season.
Boston’s Sam Hauser (back) returned after missing three games and scored five points in 14 minutes.
