They put a sale on PAS Ioannina the brothers Panagiotis and Yiannis Christovasilis after 16 years of the family’s presence in the management of Ajax of Epirus.
“With absolute respect for what our late father has achieved over the years and with a sense of responsibility towards the world of PAS Ioannina and all of Epirus, we promise to continue fighting with all our strength for the team’s stay in the top division. But we think it’s time for the club to turn the page. So we grant the PAS to anyone who asks for it so that it can lead them to the next day. We will not stand in the way, facilitating the change of ownership regime”, point out among others.
The statement in detail
“When in 2008 we made the decision to get involved in PAS Ioannina, our dream was to create a team that would not be an elevator between the 2nd and 3rd national teams, and would acquire the position it deserves.
We built a team that won the respect of friends and rivals, and wrote golden pages of football history, traveling to the stadiums of Norway and Holland, participating in the league play offs, chasing the dream of a Cup final, competing for 14 years in the top division of country. We are proud of all this.
None of the above was done easily. It was all the result of hard work, with many obstacles, against forces that were against us, promoting personal or other interests. That is why most of the times we walked alone relying only on the love of the people of PAS Ioannina, knowing that this might lead us to even more difficult situations.
Like life, so does football in circles and when a circle closes we must reflect on what we have experienced, what we have achieved, what has hurt us, what we have not fulfilled, what we have lost and what we have gained. Let’s not hide, the loss of our father, the loss of Giorgos Christovasilis, the most successful president in the history of the team, made everything even more difficult. We tried to follow in his footsteps and continue his work, creating a team that would make him and all Epirotians proud.
Unfortunately, our current ranking position shows that our efforts did not bring the result we expected. We cannot hide and must admit our mistakes. We did not manage to rally around the team all those forces that would fight with us like a fist. Now, we find that many are not by our side and this weighs on us.
With absolute respect for what our late father has achieved over the years and with a sense of responsibility towards the world of PAS Ioannina and all of Epirus, we promise to continue fighting with all our strength for the team’s stay in the top division. But we think it’s time for the club to turn the page. So we grant the PAS to anyone who asks for it so that it can lead them to the next day. We will not stand in the way, facilitating the change of ownership.”
