Freiburg (dpa) – The vice-chairwoman of the Greens in the federal government and applicant for the party chairmanship, Ricarda Lang, wants to set new priorities as chairwoman. “Just because we are now a ruling party, the future party leaders will inevitably set different accents and play a different role – new times, new answers,” Lang told the Badische Zeitung in Freiburg (Tuesday).
The connection between social and ecological issues is particularly important to her, said the 27-year-old. She grew up with a single mother and knows very well what it feels like when you can barely make ends meet financially at the end of the month. In addition, Lang, who sits in the Bundestag for the Baden-Württemberg constituency of Backnang / Schwäbisch-Gmünd, made it clear that her task as party leader also consists of thinking beyond this term in office. “The point is to further sharpen the content-related profile of the party.”
The party left from Filderstadt in the Esslingen district is applying for the chairmanship of the Greens together with foreign politician Omid Nouripour. The social politician moved into the Bundestag for the first time in autumn and was in charge of negotiating for the Greens in the coalition talks in the area of equality and diversity.
