The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs Maria Tripodi spoke today, by delegation from the Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Antonio Tajani, at the inauguration of the Macfrut 2023 Fair, the most important international event in Italy dedicated to the fruit and vegetables, a sector worth 15 billion euros, a third of which generated by exports, and which represents a flagship of our country’s production capacity.
In his inaugural speech, Undersecretary Tripodi underlined how the action of the Farnesina and the ICE Agency in support of exports in the sector “are marked by a new course, in synergy with all the competent Ministries and in line with the strategy of diplomacy of growth. Italy is an extraordinary country”, continued the Undersecretary, indicating that “the total resources allocated to the sector have been very substantial, over 800 million euros in the last three years, including through initiatives in collaboration with the ICE Agency. Funds that we intend to use to make a sector that already represents the pride of Made in Italy in the world even more competitive”.
Undersecretary Tripodi subsequently spoke at the press conference for the national preview of the Italian Pavilion at Expo Doha 2023, the universal exhibition of horticultural products recognized by the BIE which for the first time, from 2 October 2023 to 28 March 2024, will take place in a country desert climate, with an expected participation of exhibitors from 80 countries and an audience of around 3 million visitors.
Lastly, Undersecretary Maria Tripodi spoke at the presentation event for Rome’s candidacy to host the 2030 Universal Exposition, centered on the theme of People and Territories. “Topic of capital importance”, argued the Undersecretary, “since it creates an opportunity for discussion for the entire international community to face the main global challenges and identify solutions that allow us to set up a fully sustainable future”.
