The two flat water canoeists Viktoria Schwarz and Ana Lehaci do not have to compete in the qualifying regatta in mid-May to qualify for the Olympic Games. The canoe duo found out about this surprisingly on Thursday evening. Due to a quota place (eighth place at the 2019 World Cup) and due to cancellations, the two are now firmly qualified for the major event that will take place in Tokyo in July and August this year.

Noticeably relieved, Schwarz and Lehaci comment on the surprising qualification: “We think we have secured our place in the qualifying regatta. But of course it’s easier that way because we can now concentrate fully on preparing for the Olympics. We are very relieved. It is a good feeling to be qualified now. “
