Participating in illegal running races may be subject to criminal sanctions

Responding to this phenomenon, the Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes (Pol) Sambodo Purnomo Yogo emphasized that there are criminal sanctions for parties participating in illegal running racing.

Illegal running is not allowed because it is often carried out without police permission and closes roads so that it disrupts traffic flow.

“It’s not allowed. Everyone can’t do it without the permission of the authorities,” said Sambodo when contacted, Sunday (13/9/2020).

Sambodo explained, there are criminal sanctions for those who are determined to carry out an illegal running race.

The sanction refers to Article 12 paragraph 1 of Law Number 38 Year 2004 regarding Roads.

In that article it is stipulated that every person is prohibited from committing an act which results in disruption of the function of the road in the road benefit space.

Under Article 63, offenders can be subject to criminal sanctions in prison for 18 months or a maximum fine of Rp. 1.5 billion.

According to Sambodo, so far his party has never dismissed illegal running races because they often disperse themselves after seeing them Police was on patrol.
