Participate in the famous Via Crucis of San José de Gracia

Easter is a long-awaited date, since San José de Gracia has one of the oldest and most beautiful traditions nationwide, for 67 years, where they represent the living Via Crucis, the passion and death of Jesus.

As every year, the municipality of San José de Gracia in the state of Aguascalientes carried out its traditional living Via Crucis, attended by just over 2,500 people from both its municipality and the capital and neighboring states.

The word Via Crucis means “way of the cross”, for the spectators attending the municipality this season reminds them “with love and gratitude” how much Jesus suffered to save humanity from sin during his passion and death. For more than two hours they endure the strong sun and high temperatures, proving that religion is still a strong and powerful leader of the masses.

Together with the municipal, health, ecclesiastical authorities and San José de Gracia Radio, they managed to adapt to this new way of life and make use of technology so as not to lose one more representation. Therefore, the representation will be held behind closed doors and can only be viewed through the live broadcast from the San José de Gracia Radio page starting Thursday at 8:00 p.m.

What makes our Stations of the Cross very special is that for 67 years we have this tradition, where the representation we do, we try to make as real as possible, with a selection of actors who can transmit everything that was lived in the true passion of Christ, commented the Director of Tourism of San Jose de Gracia, Professor J.Merced García de Luna.
