“Participate in Phase 3 Clinical Trials of Argentine COVID-19 Vaccine: Call for Volunteers in La Plata and Greater Buenos Aires”

CONICET LA Plata reported that the call for volunteers who want to participate in phase 3 clinical trials of the development of the “ARVAC Cecilia Grierson” vaccine against COVID-19, a vaccine against the virus created in Argentina, is still in force.

“The call is aimed at people over the age of 18 residing in La Plata, Greater Buenos Aires or Mar del Plata who have received between two and three doses of vaccines against COVID-19, that is, a complete primary scheme with up to a booster. It should be noted that people with chronic diseases can participate as long as they are stable. Potential volunteers must register using this form,” they said.

The study is carried out in centers in the province of Buenos Aires authorized by the Ministry of Health and has the approval of the competent national and provincial authorities in the area. In La Plata, the task is in charge of the South Group, which is part of the Clinical Research Department of the Plata Medical Institute, located at 1 and 50. Since the beginning of the call, this space managed to recruit 160 people, of the 450 that They have already registered nationally.

The center’s goal is to recruit some 300 volunteers locally to contribute to the national goal of reaching 1,800 people interested in participating.

Once the phase 1 studies were completed, the vaccine, designed to protect against all variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus circulating in the region, including a bivalent version against Omicron, proved to be safe and increased neutralizing antibodies against the virus. The current stage seeks to test the safety and immunogenicity, that is, the response of the antibodies of the formulation in a broader group of people.
