Become a blood donor through the Doha ∙ Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) National Blood Donation Campaign. HMC’s National Campaign was launched at the Qatar Heritage Center with the aim of encouraging locals and expatriates to become blood donors. The campaign is under the theme ‘Qatar is in our blood’.
The campaign seeks new donors to provide uninterrupted access to blood when patients need it. It has received 35,000 voluntary blood donations in the past year. More donors are being sought ahead of the 2022 World Cup.
Dr Inas Al-Quwari, chair of the HMC Laboratory Medicine and Pathology Department, said the number of donors needed to be increased despite the support of individuals, companies and expatriate communities. HMC’s blood donation centers are located near the Hamad General Hospital and at the Surgical Specialty Center. In addition, blood donation units will be operational until April 2021.
