Partial easing of travel ban in Saudi Arabia; Permission for citizens who have married foreigners

Riyadh: The Saudi Passport Directorate has announced that Saudi nationals who marry foreigners will be allowed to travel abroad through border crossings without obtaining a permit in advance. Citizens who have married foreigners can go abroad. But for those who are not, the travel ban will continue.

The Passport Directorate clarified that the certificate proving marriage with a foreigner should be produced directly at the entrance gates. According to the new decision, an indigenous woman who marries a foreigner will be able to go abroad with her husband and travel with her husband who is living abroad through the entrance gates. Men who are married to non-Saudis are allowed to go abroad through the border gates without obtaining a prior permit if their wives are unable to enter the country due to work or other reasons. Documents proving that the wife is abroad and unable to come to Saudi must be produced. If the documents cannot be submitted, the required documents should be submitted through the Abshir portal and an application for a travel permit should be made.
