Military forces China which is deployed to assist submarine rescue operations KRI Nanggala-402 found a crater 10-15 meters deep near the sinking ship.
Commander of the Fleet II Command (Pangkormada II) Rear Admiral Iwan Isnurwanto estimated that the crater was the location of the sinking of the press agency (pressure hull).
“The exact location of the press agency cannot be described. We are only estimating that at this time, perhaps especially in the crater,” Iwan said in a press conference, Tuesday (18/5).

Some of the Chinese ships deployed to assist in the evacuation process are: PRC Navy Ship Ocean Tug Nantuo 195, PRC Navy Ocean Salvage & Rescue Yong Xing Dao 863, as well as Research ship Tan Suo 2 of the Chinese academy of science.
In the depiction described, it is stated that the crater is approximately 38 meters in diameter and 10-15 meters deep.
However, he said, until now the contents of the crater are still mysterious.

KRI Nanggala-402 sank in the waters north of Bali on Wednesday (21/4). The ship has been used by the Indonesian Navy for approximately 40 years.
When the incident occurred, the KRI Nanggala was in the middle of training to carry out torpedo firing. The exercise is part of fostering operational readiness of soldiers and units in Bali waters.
However, Nanggala actually sank and is known to be at a depth of 838 meters below sea level.
