Ukraine drew the attention of the German Bundeswehr to the fact that the work of the howitzers that Germany handed over to it began to malfunction. Berlin is currently solving this problem.

German PzH 2000 howitzers transferred to Ukraine began to fail after a month of operation. About it declared the German edition of Der Spiegel on Friday 29 July.

The report says that official Kyiv informed the German Ministry of Defense that part of the Panzerhaubitze 2000, delivered at the end of June, after intensive shelling of Russian positions, issued reports of breakdowns.

The Bundeswehr believes that the problems are related to the high intensity of the fire of the Ukrainian troops, as a result of which the howitzer loading mechanism is subjected to a huge load.

“The troops consider 100 rounds a day a high-intensity task, but the Ukrainians apparently fired many more rounds. It is also said that soldiers at the front initially tried to fire special ammunition at too great a distance,” the media suggests.

The Bundeswehr agreed to send sets of spare parts to Ukraine to quickly solve the problem. The German government is negotiating with representatives of the military industry on the establishment of a repair center in Poland to service the howitzers transferred to Ukraine.

According to the publication, problems also arose with the replenishment of the ammunition of the Gepard anti-aircraft tank. The first five such vehicles were recently delivered to Ukraine.

During test firing in Germany, it turned out that the Gepard’s firing system does not recognize ammunition from a Norwegian manufacturer, so the shells now have to be improved. In August, the modified ammunition must be re-tested.

Recall APU received howitzers from Germany and the Netherlands.

Earlier it was reported that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny showed howitzers of caliber 155 mm type M777which the United States handed over to the Ukrainian military.
