Part of the A10 North noise reduction work suspended due to traffic congestion

Some of the noise barriers on the A10 North will not be replaced until later because the work there is causing too much traffic. This is about the noise barriers at the S116 entrance. The barriers placed there will be removed tonight.

The sound barriers have been damaged since 2022. This year there were several storms which caused several panels to come loose. Initially, the screws would not be replaced until the middle of next year, but it turned out that work could start earlier.

A large part of the noise barriers on the inner ring of the A10 North will need to be replaced in early 2025. Apart from the S116, that is.

traffic jam

The reason: the huge traffic that has arisen there since the work began. To replace the noise barriers, Rijkswaterstaat closed one lane on the exit and the N247 sector road.

This resulted in drivers having to pass during rush hour sometimes the journey took more than an hour longer. “We have found that it is now far too busy,” admits a spokesperson for Rijkswaterstaat.

The noise barriers on the S116 exit will be replaced at a later date. It is not yet clear when that will happen. First, it is necessary to study how the work can be done ‘with as little inconvenience as possible to the traffic’, according to Rijkswaterstaat.
