Parquet confirms complaint against much-discussed owner of Mega World, staff keep income from stores in safe custody | Inland

The Antwerp public prosecutor’s office confirms that ACV Puls has filed a complaint against Dirk Bron, the owner of Mega World. In the meantime, after a call from the union, the staff keeps the income from the shops in “safe custody”. This means that the funds are not transferred to the parent company. The union called for this because it fears a robbery of the company.

Last week, barely eight months after the takeover of the 123 Blokker stores and 670 employees in our country, Megaworld filed an application for judicial reorganization at the corporate court in Mechelen. The intention is to get protection from the creditors, but what debts are involved and how big the pit is, has remained unclear until now.

In recent months, a lot of questions have been asked about the takeover of Blokker by the Dutch businessman Dirk Bron. He has a bad reputation in his home country and even has to be tried for fraud. On Monday, the trade union ACV Puls filed a complaint with the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office against the man, due to a whole series of irregularities.

The Christian clerk’s union called on Mega World staff on Sunday not to open the stores’ doors on Monday. “A number of them are closed, but there are also a lot of them open,” reports ACV Puls secretary Marc Jacobs. The union fears a robbery of the company, and therefore called on the staff to stop transferring funds to the company. “That call is well followed up. Customers are asked to pay in cash. That money is kept in custody by the staff, and not transferred, ”says the secretary.

The union also fears wages will be paid in October. According to Jacobs, the staff received an email on Monday that all wages are being paid, but the union did not receive any guarantee about this.
