Libreville, August 28, 2024 (AGP) – For the second phase of his parliamentary report, after religious and traditional communities, the MP Geoffroy Foumboula Libeka Makosso spoke, this Wednesday, August 28, at the Gabon Management School (EM-Gabon) with the heads of higher education institutions, on legislative work, including the adoption of 10 laws, in the last ordinary session of the parliament.

The first has made it possible to increase the number of parliamentarians and the second has made it possible to withdraw the functions of the Minister of Defense and Security, delegated to the Transitional President, when he starts in office. In the second session from March to June 2024, according to the amendment, 24 texts were adopted, including the law changing the status of the military to establish polygamy, that is related to the change of the electoral law , but also the laws that establish the status of the artist, the status of copyright protection, the reorganization of the National Commission on Human Rights.

The member of parliament also addressed the question of the 2024 budget, which, thanks to the sincerity and will of the transitional authorities, saw an increase of more than 500 billion FCFA.

He took into account the return of secondary school scholarships, which was not included in the budget for more than 10 years in the finance law for an amount of 12.089 billion FCFA.

School fees increased at 7.5 billion FCFA and free registrations at 3.367 billion, leading to free education for all, especially at the primary and pre-school levels.

The rectors, Grandes Ecoles Superintendents, and the students said that they were inspired by the work done by the Parliament while giving donations that could be integrated into into the Finance Law 2025, which will be examined between September and December 2024 by parliamentarians.
