Rian and Gerard Sanderink’s relationship may seem like an ordinary relationship at first. “But parliamentary questions have even been asked about this,” says Jinek. A sensitive matter, according to IT entrepreneur Ben van der Burg. “It is so sensitive, because he is indeed a great entrepreneur. He has two large companies, Centric and Strukton. Centric, for example, arranges the basic administration at municipalities for the tax they pay,” explains Van den Burg.
“Strukton takes care of the infrastructure in the Netherlands, i.e. railways and bridges. It is essential that no strange things happen within these companies.”
Off the path
Sanderink has been suspended from Strukton and no longer has any say there. According to Van den Burg, his control is also being questioned at the other company. “Because he shows bizarre behavior,” says the expert. “Since he has with Rian, he has really gone off the track,” says Jinek.

“But let’s be honest, you gave Rian to us,” says Jinek. In 2018, Van der Burg is the very first to give her a stage in his BNR podcast: The Technologist. She talks about a ‘smart blockchain’ that Van den Burg did not understand at all. He listens to an excerpt from the podcast with his hands in his hair.
“I tried so hard to understand, I had also read her book, but it was inimitable. It made no sense, but we thought it was just us, fine. We just kept going,” says the IT expert. Thanks to this interview, she joined shortly afterwards News hour. “But if News hour had listened to the podcast, they would never have invited her.”
“And during the broadcast everyone went wild, because experts were watching and realized: this is a pancake,” says Jinek.
