Investigative journalist Alberto Stegeman and his team use the hidden camera to record how the meat from Congo is smuggled into a Dutch shop and then traded under the counter. “If we can buy it, it means that more of this forbidden meat is circulating somewhere in the Netherlands,” said Stegeman.
entertainment">In the Netherlands it is illegal to eat meat from wild African animals because of the major health risks it entails. Virologists also warn in the broadcast for deadly viruses such as African swine fever that can be brought to our country on meat.
