Parliamentary leader of Cuba attended the funeral of Hage Geingob – 2024-02-25 20:39:06

Windhoek, Feb 25 (Prensa Latina) The president of the National Assembly of People’s Power (parliament) of Cuba, Esteban Lazo, participated today in the burial ceremony of former Namibian president Hage G. Geingob, in the Acre of Heroes.

In this context, the president of the Council of State also exchanged with the presidents of Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zewde, and of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa.

Lazo attended Geingob’s state funeral this Saturday, where he highlighted the former Namibian president’s role as “an undisputed African leader” since the insertion of independent Namibia in 1990.

He stressed that Geingob passionately defended not only the right of his people to forge themselves as a sovereign nation, but also contributed to cementing the international projection of Namibia, putting it at the forefront in the fight for the development of the peoples of the third world and Africa in particularly, for equality and justice.

We will never forget our friend, the Cuban parliamentary leader emphasized on the occasion.

A Baobab has fallen, Lazo concluded, but his example will be multiplied in the young people who embody the future and who will make Namibia a better country, as he dreamed.
