Voting for the parliamentary elections in Manama-Bahrain has concluded. 561 candidates, including 107 women, contested the election for the 40-member assembly. Along with the parliamentary elections, elections for the 30-member city council also took place today. Polls began at 8am and continued until 8pm. A special stand has been set up for Covid patients.
If the candidates do not get a majority, the election will be held again on Saturday. At the same time, the Home Office informed that an attempt was made to hack the Parliament’s website to disrupt voting and the problem was resolved immediately. The first parliamentary elections were held in Bahrain in 2002. This is the sixth election in twenty years.
