Parliamentarians seek to stop the increase in medicine prices

The Permanent Commission on Education, Health, Science, Technology and Innovation of the National Assembly agreed to organize a working table to analyze the prices of medicines and stop the increase that they have been presenting in recent months, according to an institutional press release.

According to the information provided, the vice president of the commission, deputy José Villarroel, reported that the sector has raised the prices of products between 24 and 40 percent. For this reason, the instance convened the Venezuelan Chamber of Pharmaceutical Houses of Representatives (CAVECAR), which brings together ten importing and producing companies in the country.

He added that the work table seeks to protect the people, who are the most affected by the high cost of medicines.

In this sense, he maintained that they will coordinate with the Permanent Commission of Economy, Finance and National Development and with the Executive Power, through the Pharmaceutical Engine, to evaluate the cost structure and thus achieve the fair price of medicines.

At another point, deputy Villarroel pointed out that at the meeting the representation of the Venezuelan producers’ union “Juntos por el Agro” was heard to deal with complaints about the smuggling of meshes that are used for harvesting agricultural crops. .

In this regard, he commented that he will coordinate with the Permanent Commission of Economy and Finance so that it receives this movement, in order to know its opinion, and thus seek the solution with an adequate strategy.
