In addition to his direct opposition to the new zoning framework for tourism and the “nail” to Nikos Dendias on the Cyprus issue, Giorgos Gerapetritis referred to the bilateral negotiations with Turkey ahead of Hakan Fidan’s visit to Athens in early November.
Specifically, during the “massage” to the “blue” members of the National Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee, the Minister of Foreign Affairs received questions about Greek-Turkish, stressing that “in this matter there is no middle ground”.

According to the information, Mr. Gerapetritis claimed that he has two issues to discuss with his Turkish counterpart: First, that the only difference between Greece and Turkey is the EEZ and the continental shelf. Secondly, the framework in which this dispute can be resolved is that of International Law and the Law of the Sea.
“We have an “A” position and Turkey has a “-A” position,” he reportedly added, repeating once again that “there is no middle ground” because “someone has to back down. And that will not be Greece.” Otherwise, as he clarified, “the dialogue stops…”.
The warm applause
Indicative of the positive atmosphere that prevailed among the members of the National Committee of the ND was the warm applause given to Dora Bakoyannis, when the former minister and president of the Committee in question said as she closed the proceedings: “I feel pride in the implementation of our foreign policy”.
