Three years have passed since the tragic accident that happened outside the Parliament with the 22-year-old victim Jason Lalaouniswhen the motorcycle he was riding in collided with the official car of the ND MP, Doras Bakoyannis. Lalaounis was abandoned at the scene by the driver of D. Bakoyannis’ vehicle.
Today Tuesday, on the occasion of the completion of three years since the accident that claimed the life of the young man, his mother, his sister, and many of his friends were outside the parliament at the place where he lost his life and left flowers, candles and cans of beer which was the young man’s favorite drink.
His sister Katerina wrote Jason’s name in white spray paint on the crosswalk at the side gate of Parliament, while his friends left white and red flowers at the site. On the sidewalk again with spray paint his sister painted a butterfly. At that moment, traffic was stopped, while a man addressed the mother of the deceased young man and said “Have a nice trip Jason”.
Some passing drivers respected the moment for a few seconds and tried to avoid stepping on the flowers and the child’s name. Still others did not care and passed over as if nothing was happening.
In their statements to documentonews.gr, the mother and sister of Jason Lalaouni denounced the judicial system as even today the trial in the first instance has not started, while they also protest the indictment facing the driver of D. Bakoyannis’ vehicle.
Specifically, the mother of Jason Lalaounis, Natashareports documentonews.gr: “We know that when you have a traffic accident and even a fatal one, the car should not be moved from the position where it happened. Here the car was put inside the Parliament with the excuse “so that it does not obstruct traffic”. No car could pass anyway because my kid was in the street, so that was just an excuse. It is not a crime to make an illegal turn and cut across two lanes. It does not exist in the law as dangerous driving. To me it is very dangerous driving. It is unfathomable to me that they killed my son in the three minutes it would have taken the driver to drive properly. If the driver had gone from Solonos and Akadimias, or if he had gone from Amalias, my son would have lived.”
On her part his sister, Katerina Lalaouni, even wearing a T-shirt depicting the tracks of the wheels of a car together with drops of blood, he declares: “We are here three years after my brother was murdered. Three years that no justice has come, as the court has not even started. They have been asking us for ten days to exhume Jason, despite this the court has not started, because we are talking about such a fair legal framework and such a fair country. Three years later, the first trial has not even started. A court where the driver is charged with manslaughter. It is considered negligence for the judges to turn left and cut two lanes. And of course, the abandonment has not been recorded in the case file.”
