The loan request of 530,000 around the new Johanna-Meyerhans-Strasse is not a controversial point in the city parliament on Thursday evening. However, there are discussions, and indeed about trees. “I think it’s very good that three trees are planned over a length of almost 300 meters,” says GLP parliamentarian Marcel Preiss. However, in his opinion, there should not only be three, but a total of ten trees in the future.
Preiss did some research and calculates that around 5000 francs would have to be calculated per tree. In total, that would mean about five percent of the total amount for the project. “I only agree to the project with three trees, but in general I hope that no streets will be planned without trees in the future,” Preiss concludes.
The responsible city councilor Daniel Engeli receives the request. Just like the suggestion by Claudio Votta (SP) to add a table to the small space under a tree, which refers to the historical namesake of the two planned streets. The road project was approved with two votes against.
Not all points of the motion are adopted
The city’s energy subsidy regulations are being discussed more intensively. This was revised on the basis of a motion by the city council and discussed by a special commission chaired by Reto Frei (GP). In the first reading, Frei informed Parliament about the changes and the points from the motion that were included in the revision – or not.
The aim of the motion was above all to promote non-motorized traffic more strongly and to generate local added value for Weinfelden when the subsidies were paid out. However, the latter was not taken into account in the revision at the end, as no solution capable of receiving a majority was found, says Frei. After all, the Weinfelderinnen and Weinfelder should in future receive a contribution with the purchase receipt when buying a cargo bike or a bike trailer.
Connection to the anergy network is to be supported
A supplement proposed by the Energy Commission was to be discussed: “We are applying to add a further point in the appendix. We want water-water heat pumps with a connection to an anergy network to be promoted, ”says Martin Müller (GP), President of the permanent energy commission.
The city’s energy plan puts a strong focus on heat networks, says Müller. A variant of this are anergy networks, such as those between the sports facility and the Vivala. “When the ice rink is cooled with water, the waste heat flows into the network and the Vivala can use this heat,” says Müller, explaining the technically rather demanding topic. The city should support these projects so that private individuals can increasingly join such anergy networks. The proposal was unanimously accepted.
A special commission is formed
The decision on the regulations for advertising space in sports facilities will be dealt with quickly. The advancement is undisputed and the President of the Parliament Claudia Bieg proposes to set up a special commission. The 27 parliamentarians present approve this proposal.
Under miscellaneous simple inquiries from Alexandra Beck about the next steps at the bus station and from Claudio Votta about the property at Freiestrasse 18 are answered. Simone Brunschweiler and Nina Beerli will also be bid farewell, they will be with us for the last time at a meeting
