ND MPs proceeded with their parliamentary question to target the sensitive social group of the Roma, who have suffered a series of racist persecutions Thanos Pleuris and Dimitris Markopoulos.
The two “blue” MPs, using the data published by ELAS about crime in Greece, rush to target the Roma, even ignoring the recent murders of members of this community by ELAS men, as in the cases Nikos Sampanis, Kostas Frangoulis and Christos Michalopoulos.
At the same time, however, the question of the two MPs directly places the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, in the frame of responsibility, while at the same time confirming the information that in the Maximos Palace there is a strong reflection on the specific issue and on what should be the management of the phenomenon of criminality.
The racist-style question does not stop only at targeting the Roma on the issue of crime, but goes one step further, commenting on the… “social impact of the situation created by Roma in local societies, lead to conditions of indignation and suffocation”.
The following is the full text of the question submitted by the two MPs:
QUESTION OF THE THANOS PLEYRI PARLIAMENTARY – DIMITRI MARKOPOULOU
SUBJECT: Policies against Roma crime
TO: Minister of Citizen Protection Mr. Michalis Chrysochoidis – Minister of Social Cohesion & Family Ms. Sofia Zaharaki – Minister of Labor Ms. Niki Kerameos
According to the latest research data of the Greek Police, delinquency originating from the Roma is a major problem, as in 84% (ELAS report) the members of this social group are responsible for the burglaries and thefts of Greeks in the country. It is not a coincidence that the number of publications and television reports of the last few days highlight this important issue, as of course the effect of attacks, thefts and general unrest that prevails in many Municipalities of our country.
The media also refer to previous ELAS reports in which it appears that the phenomenon of the highest percentage of Roma participation in illegal and criminal actions that target the property and even the lives of citizens is permanent and tends to be perpetuated, which is now developing into organized crime .
As if the above were not enough, the social impact of the situation created by Roma in local societies, lead to conditions of indignation and suffocation. Neighborhoods cannot be quieted by daily clashes, threats are a daily phenomenon, as is property damage, while the presence of illegal camps in public areas is becoming permanent (e.g. Kifisos bridge, Botanikos, Kolonos, Schisto Korydallou, Chalandri, etc.) a.).
A critical dimension is also the fact that most of the gangs of this particular social group are composed of young people, who obviously have not joined the social and economic development in the way it should for a modern European country
In a situation that tends to lead to unpredictable social outbursts and further problems
THE RELEVANT MINISTERS ARE ASKED:
– What actions and strategies have progressed in recent years regarding the reduction of crime by the Roma
– What are the next plans?
– If additional actions have been discussed such as the addition of experienced police personnel to the relevant security departments so that there is anticipation and not only repression
– If there is a coherent integration policy in work, housing, education and finally in society for the Roma
